So here I am blogging, I just got through with my quiet time and I'm thinking of how to express some of what I have read between my book I am reading and my quiet time, and my time in the Word this morning. I'm writing about the importance of praying in private so that you can experience true oneness with God. As I was doing so I was bombarded by my little ones needing help with their shoes, getting their lunch packed and so on.
You see, today I am taking a sick day from Betty Griffin House to try and make some extra money for the weekend. I am going to be mowing grass and weed eating all day to get myself some racing money for this weekend. I have planned this upcoming weekend of racing for about 3 months now. I got a friend to come and preach for me this Sunday, I got all my bases covered so that we can take off for a weekend and do some racing. And, here we are 4 days away from my big weekend and I don't have the money to go. So, I'll be sweating it out all day to try and get us there.
I'm blogging from home instead of the privacy of my office because it made no sense to go all the way to the office for about 45 minutes when I can accomplish all that I need right here in the kitchen.
Yesterday was not so hectic as last week, I got into the office got my blogs done and got a lot of stuff done that I needed to prepare for my presentations later this week. I went by the church and did some praying, checked the mail and phone messages and mixed up some Gatorade for the football team and made a lot of phone calls. There's still a lot of pressure to get about 60 presentations done by November 1st. I knocked out 12 on Thursday and Friday of last week, Allison knocked out about 5 last week so we are slowly getting there. Mowing doesn't sound all that relaxing but it is. It's strenuous yes, but still I am able to turn my mind off, shut out the pressures of work and just mow all day long. It's a lot more theraputic than it sounds, so much so I think I spelled it wrong, Oh well!
Today, after mowing I'll go home and work out and then run out to football practice. The girls have become honorary water girls it would seem and they love taking the guys water and hanging out with them at practice. Tara is working at Publix 2 nights a week so the girls are forced to go to footbal practice with me those 2 nights and luckily they have found jobs and they love it.
Yesterday was a bit of a highlight for me I guess you would say. Last week the freshman team had a rough week and the coach asked me to come and talk to them for a few minutes, I shared a parable with them and told them the importance of giving it your all no matter what that all may be, and then I prayed with them. Then, I rushed over and did the same with the varsity and hung out with them while they got cups of Gatorade.
So, busy but not too busy, almost slow by my standards these next few days, but Wednesday through Friday are right round the corner and those are my 15 hour days.
Have a great day and thanks so much for reading! Sorry it wasn't all that entertaining, just busy, busy busy!
I can share one funny little anticdote with you. Last night I decided to fry some of the perch that Tara had bought and frozen last weekend. I took the pieces and thawed them out, pulled them apart and they appeared to have white plastic still on them. I couldn't get it off so I decided it must be some of the skin. Well, I stuck them in the fryer and they started to develop these huge bubbles, that's right the plastic on the fish was bubbling which meant after all that work I got about 2 pieces of fish and had to cook something else, this whole cooking for myself is a new experience every day!
