The short straw

I don't know if I drew the short straw yesterday, or wait! I wasn't there when they drew straws so I got stuck with the dirty deed of the week. That's right, I got stuck with having to perform our annual gross skit. We perform it almost every year, it's on purity. We have 5 people sleeping a bowl of water and a toothbrush with some toothpaste. Each person wakes up from sleeping one at a time and they brush their teeth in the same water using the same tooth brush which really tends to gross out the kids watching. the very thought of someone brushing their teeth with the same toothbrush as someone else or even 4 other people gets the point accross quite well. But, we take it to the next level by my waking up last and in a hurry. I jump up fix my hair and run over to the table and find the bowl of water that has been spit in and teeth have been brushed and rinsed into. I take and dip my cup into it as if it is milk, and then I dump some cereal in it and start eating it. I know great hygiene but how else are we to let them know about purity. About the fact that every time they do impure things to their bodies, especially when they start including others it's no different from sharing a toothbrush with 5 other people or even drinking the water that was left after the mouth rinsing. So we do it every year, and every year I get to be last. Do they love me or hate me? I don't know, I'm hoping it's because I have the strongest stomach in the group and not because they want to spit in my cereal! haha!
So kidz Kamp is still going strong, we're still energized by the fun and excitement of showing kids how to live for Christ and many of the kids are really starting to get it.
Hope you are having a great week as well and thanks for reading!

The BLitz!

So my day went like this yesterday. Work at 6am, jump in the truck and pick up workers and a few kids on the way to the church at 7:30am, get to the church and unlock everything and more importantly turn on the air in all the buildings. Then, 8:00am jump in the van and go start picking up kids for Kamp all the while juggling because 3 of our leaders aren't going to be there that day. Then, arrive at the Kamp at about 8:25 greet parents and kids as they come in the door and help out where needed until about 10:30. At 10:30 change clothes and run to a funeral at Moultrie Baptist Church, get out of the funeral and rush back to get in the van and take kids home after camp is over. Get back to the church about 12:45 and go to the office to do a lot of paperwork(I have to go over 323 evaluations for the month for my July end of the month report). Then at 3:45 jump in the truck to go to the National take the night event on the beach setting up our booth for the Betty Griffin House and then working it until about 6:30pm at which time I run home and fire up the grill and grill us some steaks, hamburgers and hotdogs. Then, hang out with the kids catch a little bit of tv, do some studying on my sermon for Sunday and then hit the hay only to get up and do it all over again.
Yes, that is my day to day life every day the same, just different pieces of the puzzle but the puzzle usually looks the same each day. So pray for me that I can keep it up, stay on course and not allow myself to get bogged down. I'm having a blast, I wouldn't trade one bit of it for any other life on the planet believe me!
Have a great day, and God Bless!

Kidz Kamp

So Kidz Kamp is in full swing, kids are having fun our leaders are awesome and energetic and I am loving it. I am slammed right now as I am going to work at 6am, getting in the truck and picking up some of our workers at 7:30 then going to the church, hopping in the van and picking up a van load of kids for the day. Then, I get them to the church, assist in the opening skit and celebration and then I am back to my office. Only today, there's another twist. A couple of close friends of mine Mark and Travis Williams lost their mom to cancer last Friday night so I will be attending a funeral right in the middle of it all today. So I will actually be wearing 3 hats today, instead of my usual 2 hat day.
I hope everyone is having a great start to their week! I will have more from Kidz Kamp Central Soon!

Getaway

I had an interesting getaway last week. Thursday and Friday I was at a large statewide Department of HEalth conference on Violence. I was one of the speakers on Friday, but THursday was going to be my day to turn my life off and enjoy getting away. It didn't happen, I spent the majority of the day on the phone taking care of all types of matters from lining up babysitters for my kids, to church insurance and other types of things. It was never ending, my phone must have rang 4-6 times per hour through out the day, I never realized how much my cellphone rings until for once I was hoping it wouldn't.
I did however, get a chance to relax a little late at night. I was staying in teh Florida Mall's, hotel and conference center in Orlando. I was on the 10th floor and I could just sit at the window and look out over the cityscape and spend time alone with God. THis by far was the highlight of my time, understanding that there is way too much noise in my life and that I needed that time I took advantage of it. It was amazing to sit and look from that birds' eye view at the world and just listen to God. It made the whole trip worth it even if it was the only quiet hour each day I had, I loved it and it seemed like an eternity each time.
Today kicks off Kidz Kamp and I am excited about the very first kids kamp in Freedom Baptist History! Flag football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, dance, production, crafts and worship here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
