It's Friday, I think?!?!

So I shared with you yesterday that I was confused about the day, but I survived the week so far and I am fully prepared for the weekend that is coming.
Last night I had a full plate as I had reports from 2 different games on a regular basis while I walked the sidelines at Pedro Menendez. We were victorious in a very sloppy game of turnovers and penalties. We were clearly the better team and much better than 22-0. We did however have an amazingly good defensive night where I believe the only first downs we gave up were on penalties. A facemask that was not and an offsides penalty gave the opposing team what I believe were the only first downs of the game. On the offensive side of the ball we ran it well, passed it well and missed on a few big plays and miscues that could have led to a lot more points. But a W is a W and we didn't used to get many of those when I started out as their chaplain, now 2 seasons later we're disappointed about a 22-0 victory, times are a changing at PEdro Menendez High School!
Tara was at Nease with some close friends of ours who are from North Marion, and my family was on the Nease side of the ball so I had updates coming back and forth from that game, and to be perfectly honest my heart was partially in Palm Coast as my buddy Ethan Gumble was leading the Jackets for the first official time. They won in over time by one point so I was happy there as well.
I have a busy weekend scheduled with a lot of things going on with the church. We have Rock the Universe Saturday night, and then I have a Trustees Meeting after the morning service, and a Prayer meeting Sunday night at 6pm for all who wish to attend.
But, Friday starts out with me getting off from work, rushing to Gainesville to pick up an engine block which is the final piece of the puzzle for us to start putting my good motor I broke a season ago back together. Then, Friday night will be completely full of nothingness as we sit, and relax with nowhere to be(which is extremely rare for us).
SO thanks for reading and have a great weekend!

What a screwy week!

First, let me start off by saying that we had a wonderful night at youth last night. We had a good size crowd, we had a great discussion during the lesson and things are really looking to take off in that area for us. Youth ministry, I must confess, is more of a burdent than a ministry for me. But not in the way that most churches see it as a burden. I feel like if our youth and childrens ministry is not vibrant then we are failing all accross the board. Youth ministry will always be my passion and youth/children's ministry will always be the focus of any church I am on staff at.
Now, back to the screwy week thing. I need some help, if my blog is not up tomorrow morning, if I am not seen at work or at SAHS for lunch tomorrow someone give me a call because I will probably think it is Saturday.
First, we have a 3 day weekend which has messed with my head all week(though I am not complaining) now Tropical Storm Hanna moves by and we switch the football games to Thursday night. I have now gone from being a day behind to feeling like it is Friday today. I'll go through my usual Friday routine with rushing out to Pedro Menendez to feed the team, get them all set up and fed, do a Bible study with them and then get ready for the game. So my week is all messed up, I may require a friendly reminder tomorrow of just what day it is.
I'm looking forward to tonight, the real deal, a real game, 4 quarters of sweat and heart all over the field. Those Friday night, or ehhh, uh, THursday night lights are a lot of fun for young people all over the United States.
Have a great day and thanks for reading!

Monday on Tuesday anyone?

It was great to struggle through yesterday only to realize it wasn't Monday at all, it was actually Tuesday. These 3 day weekends should become a regular thing in my mind. I'm seriously trying to figure out a way to make that happen right now.
So I got ready to start my routine of lunches at the schools yesterday only to find out that some of our middle schoolers go to lunch at 10:30, that's right 10:30 I can't imagine that. So I had missed both lunches I had planned to attend yesterday leaving me with the need to do that again today, and I will do my best.
After work I picked up Mike one of the young men that I take to football practice every day, then I was off to pick up Alexa and P.J. from school so that Tara could go straight to work at Publix after work at the school.
When I picked them up P.J. actually asked us if she could get a mohawk. Okay so I have jokingly laughed off a lot of her antics but I am now seeing this become more serious. What kind of girl wants a mohawk? I don't know, I should probably do more research into Tara's side of the family real soon, that has to be where all this is coming from.
After school we went to Petco, as I am on a fish kick again. After we ripped all the bushes out of the front yard I put one of our fish ponds beside the front porch, found a nice fountain to run inside of it and set it all up on Labor Day. I decided to move my larger fish in our aquarium in the living room into this new pond and that left it looking empty for sure. So I went to Petco yesterday to buy about 30 new comets which are about .30 a piece, I walked out of there with a new knowledge of ferrets, birds, hamsters, mice and guinea pigs. A bag full of comets, a bag with 2 sharks in it, and another bag with 2 frogs in it. Those 2 could sell ice to eskimos, they're so pushy and cunning. I'm no match for them after a long day so we walked out of there with more than I anticipated but we had fun walking around the store. We got home, put all of the stuff in the aquarium and ponds and then we went back out to football practice. There I discovered the game has been moved to Thursday, messing up my plans to go pick up my new block for my race car in Gainesville and the potential for the storm to make the whole weekend a mess.
So that's my Tuesday on Monday, or mOnday on Tuesday how ever it goes, I'm ready to face hump day, even though it isn't because there is not an even balance in the week due to Labor Day.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!

The weekend that was!

It's tough to put a whole 3 day weekend into words but I'll break it down for you into sections. First, Friday night was great other than losing 2 scrimmages that we should have won it was great to be back on the sidelines, back at the team meal and sharing in proclaiming the Gospel to over 70 young men. Tara, Katie and I did the meal serving as will be our position for the rest of the season. We fed them, and listened as Mason Reiger from Anastasia Baptist shared the message and enjoyed that time as we always do.
Then, Saturday we got up and did some little things around the house, then we had Alexa's 8th birthday party. That's right the first official day of College Football and I'm beside a pool full of 8 year old girls. It was well worth it, as Alexa and P.J. had a blast with ALexa's friends. Victoria stayed the night and we watched them play an interactive game of Hanna Montana and squeezed in a little bit of football.
Sunday church went great! Aaron had a new song for us and we had a good crowd considering it was Labor Day weekend. Phil and missy Green joined us again from Ocala and some friends of theirs whose son will be attending Flagler College this semester. We went to Applebees(for the afternoon) for lunch and got out of there around 3:30, the food and fellowship was good, but not that good to spend 3 hours there! yikes!
Then, Monday we did some things in the yard, got some new baby fish for the aquarium as we are starting another pond by the front door for some of my larger comets inside. I'm excited about the new pond, it's nice looking, we just need a few plants around it and we'll be all set. Tara and I sat outside on the front porch during the hurricane alot and it was during those times of not-so-busyness that I realized we needed to do some work in the yard. So in the past week we've chopped down some trees, ripped some bushes out of the ground and moved a fish pond. It's starting to look like we live there, as opposed to the usual look of vacationing there, haha.
So that is pretty much it! The Falcons lost, the Gators won, church was fantastic and Labor Day was somewhat productive and restful at once. Not a bad 3 day weekend for the Gatlins!
Have a great day!
