We have a softball scrimmage tonight, a flag football tournament in the morning and ofcourse a full slate for Sunday. So again we will have a busy weekend, I am excited about the flag football tournament though.
Turning Point at Calvary puts on an exact replica of what I have wanted to do for some 10 years now. A full scale, trophy winning, Gospel presenting event centered on Christ, but advertised as a Flag football tournament. We would have 4 teams, but it is looking more like 2 teams because of work, and youth basketball league. Our middle school boys mostly play in the rec basketball league so that knocks it down quite a bit.
It's also exciting to see our kids, go interact with the kids at Turning Point and realize that competition is for the field and certainly not for churches and youth ministries.
So thanks for reading, not a lot of news and have a great weekend!

Nice timing
So I mentioned in the other blog just how busy my day was. It was fun don't let me get that wrong at all. I enjoyed almost every second of it. We had a full crowd at youth last night, it was packed like a can of sardines once again, but we had a few kids bring some friends that aren't quite ready for it so we'll have to let the friends take alittle break.
Yesterday afternoon it dawned on me that we had some windshield wiper issues on the van and it appeared it was going to rain. So I rushed to the church after work to work on it, I pulled it up close to teh building but still got rained on while I worked. IT rained teh entire time I was fixing teh wipers and never another drop after that. What great timeing huh? THere I am working in the rain to have windshield wipers only to have it not rain. Isn't that just how life is some times, who says God doesn't have a sense of humor?
So softball went well, the day was jam packed and youth went pretty well. I'm excited about our future at Freedom and I feel that we are right on the verge of a big growth spurt, I'm praying with God's direction we'll continue to reach the unchurched in St. Johns County for Him!
Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Slow monday
Yesterday was one of the slowest moving days I have had in a while. I spent a lot of time reading on my book for work entitled, "Season of Life" and I would highly recommend it to any father who is raising children or plans to ahve and raise children. It would be a great read for any teenaged boy to read as well. In it we see the stories of coaches who are teaching their boys the difference between false manhood and true manhood. About building and cherishing relationships rather than money, sexual conquests or power and success.
Softball practice was even a little slow moving. We did however, pick up 2 new girls and the promise of one more. So that officially gives us enough to try to field a JV team, something that most schools around here are not doing. So cross your fingers I have a job out there coaching the jv, without them there is no real use for me.
Alexa and P.J. did take up arm wrestling for some reason yesterday. They decided to start arm wrestling each other and then me. Not sure where all that came from, but it was not surprising at all.
SOrry there wasn't more excitement. Thanks for reading and have a great day!

the weekend that blew by!
Friday I got off work, rushed to the house changed for softball practice. Left softball practice, rushed home to change clothes and shower and then went on a date. That's right, no kids(they were with Tara's parents) just the two of us. We had a gift card to Outback so we went and had some free Outback. I told someone Friday, free always makes the food taste better, haha. Then we went home and just relaxed on the couch and watched a movie.
Saturday morning I got up early and got to work at the church. I painted in the nursery, and painted in the nursery, and painted some more. After 2 full coats on teh walls the flowers and the clouds that had been painted on there before were still bleeding through. Yikes! So now I am back to waiting on Aaron to come prime the walls and then I will put another coat on them. When I realized we couldn't finish off the nursery we went into the youth house to get to work. We got everything swept and mopped(which won't last, what were we thinking?) and then hung some new curtains, redecorated 2 of the rooms and got a children's room set up in the back. It's really coming along nicely. We worked basically from 8am to about 7pm at the church on Saturday.
Then, Sunday I got up got the donuts and rushed off to the church. We had our first official Jeannie Gumble driven social after church. My mom was sick so I was left in charge of it for this week. ALl went well, the numbers were a little down I must admit but we had a great day. Phil and Missy Greene were in town from Ocala and visited and got stuck with us until the mid afternoon at Sonny's. Missy's daughter Monica was exhausted I'm sure because the girls clung to her with all they had. They rode with her to lunch, sat with her at lunch and so on.
So it's Monday and another busy week awaits. Thanks for reading and have a great day!
