I learn new lessons all the time. With the church at Freedom I have learned the hard way not to pray for or ask God for patience because I am gaining patience(or losing it) in every aspect of the ministry. I now have learned not to complain or especially blog about how exhausting your week has been when you have a weekend ahead of you. I shared with you on Friday how exhausting the week had been, well the weekend was far and above all that had been during the week.
Friday started off well, we had a great day going I did presentations for 6 classes on campus at Pedro Menendez, I got to go to their pep-rally before school and hang out with some of the players. I was able to be there after school to set up everything and get ready for the team feeding. We got through that and rushed home, changed clothes and we were all off to Jacksonville for the game. We played at Stanton Prep and had a great game going. The offense and defense were both sloppy but we were ahead 20-3 until they scored right before the half making it 20-10. The second half started slow for us and we allowed them to get the game 27-13, they decided to kick and on-side kick. One of our players, Mike Winners went for the slow roller and was hit by a Stanton player right on top of the helmet at full speed. He laid there for a while and Ms. Kim our trainer(the best high school trainer I have ever seen in my life) rushed out to him. As they worked on him I made my way out and we ended up strapping him to a back board, putting him in the ambulance and going to Shands for tests. Most of this was precautions and he turned out to be alright, just some major soreness. They finally got the tests run and I got out of the hospital at about 1am.
Saturday, I got up did some studying on my sermon and made the final spell check, and proofread (which I usually do on Thursday evening, it's been one of those weeks) then I got ready to go racing. You know that racing is my getaway, my time to put the week behind me. It was then that I realized that Tara had taken the keys to the Suburban to work with her and I had no keys. I had to borrow my mom's car and rush out to get the keys, come home and then finally start getting loaded up for the races about 2 hours later than I usually like to.
We got all loaded up, I got all of the girls' stuff packed and the 3 of us went to the gas station to fill up the suburban for the trip(3.99/gallon mind you). We got there and I filled the burb up, got the girls icees and we were going to pull over to the air and air up my slicks which were almost flat from sitting for over a month. When I pulled over there I realized my tire gauge did not work and now I ahd to turn the rig around and go all the way to Napa to get a tire gauge, then come back and start airing the tires up. I did that, rushed around frantically and then finally got to the outlet mall to get Tara from work at about 3:45 (we usually leave at 3:00). We drove quickly to the track only to find out it had rained and there would be about a 1 hour delay on getting started. They got the track dried, and the second car down the track blew the engine sending fluids all over the track from the beginning of the track all the way to the end. After a lengthy clean up they got back underway. I got to race, I lost second round(I was quite rusty) and needed to make a timetrial just to run the full quarter mile. All the races with the motor in the car now were 1/8 mile and I didn't want to go all the way back to Gainesville next weekend only to have to turn around. So I made that pass and everything went alright, we loaded up at about 1am and headed home. Got home, finally got all unwound and went to sleep about 3 am and got up at 7:30 to face my Sunday.
So just when I thought was tired, I found out what tired really was.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!
