So I volunteered to go and help out at P.J.'s classroom Thanksgiving meal. Mrs. Hodges her teacher had cooked a turkey and some corn. Tara and I threw in some rolls and drinks(our signature item) and several other parents brought in stuff. But, Mrs. REvells blew my mind when she came in with a crockpot full of corn, another one full of macaroni and cheese, she brought 2 different home made deserts, plates, napkins and cups. We ended up with a full meal with mashed potatoes, sweet potatoe casserole, stuffing, muffins, cornbread and a spiral cut ham. A full blown Thanksgiving feast for a kindergarten class, how exciting. The parents interacted with the kids and ate with their children, ate with their families and it was great. The kids were most interested in the fact that MRs. Hodges had set up their tables in long sections so that it looked like the long tables in the Pilgrim pictures. All in all I have to say I was most impressed with the whole deal.
I carved(or butchered depending on who you ask) the turkey, served the people as they came through the line and then helped clean up. After that we went to Alexa's Thanksgiving play and P.J. and I watched that. It was all in all a great day for me out at Southwoods Elementary School as well as the kids.
THis week we have a lot of work to get done as I have a few days to dedicate to working out at the church. I hope to accomplish much as I have a few people coming out to help out.
Have a great Thanksgiving and we will touch base again on Monday!
