What a slow moving weekend by the Gatlin standards. Friday Tara and I helped feed the football team at Pedro, then we hung out and chilled for a few hours until the game. Friday night was a big deal for the girls because they got to cheer on the field with the cheerleaders for the whole first half of the game. Alexa and P.J. were about as excited as I have ever seen them. P.J. especially as she showed off her dance moves between each cheer. She was so funny, she would do the cheers and stay about one or two steps behind and as soon as the cheer was over, if the band or the dance team played a song then she was dance dance revolution for all to see. Alexa on the other hand after each cheer, would yell out yeah!, or Go Falcons! and do what almost resembled a toe touch of sorts as if she was a seasoned veteran.
As for the game we won, we played pretty sloppy on offense but we won 24-3. Which leaves us at 5-1 and we are looking to go 6-1 this week at Middleburg.
Saturday I awoke to honeydo's and lots of prep work for our big motor on the race car. It started out with the simple idea of planting two trees and a bush for Tara which her mom had purchased her last Monday afternoon. Well, it's never that easy is it. Tara proceeded to put the trees in places where there were more roots than dirt. I ended up spending a couple of hours on a 30 minute job with an ax and cutters trying to get enough roots out of the way to plant the trees. But, we got it all done and my dad and I worked on teh block and crank for my 406 which is the best engine we have ever owned, meanwhile we spent time working on Katie's car which is the most aggravating piece I've ever been around. It messes up for her, I finally got it to mess up for me last Wednesday and we have had it at my dad's since Thursday night with it never messing up once. It's kind of like going to the doctor, cars have that sense to where when you take them to a mechanic they fix themselves. So we were tracing a problem that would not show itself at all.
Later in the evening I watched the Gators stomp LSU(I must admit a highlight to my sports weekend) and watched Jeff Gordon take 4 tires instead of 2 and fall from first to 6th to finish the race.
Sunday was a great day, we made some more progress this week on landscaping and the final bit of trim work should be happening soon. We'll have the green trim painted and new bushes and flowers all around the building by the end of the month. We'll have our new projector screen hung and the new layout up on stage taken care of. Slowly the place is taking shape and we're livening it up one step at a time.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!
